Ticking a ritual off early, and skipping one

You do not have to wait for the day. Tick a ritual off on the Rituals page before it is due and it counts for that day, or press Skip when it is not needed this time. Both clear themselves once the day has passed.

Questions this answers

Can I tick a ritual off before the day it is due?
Yes. Every ritual on the Rituals page has a tick box. Tick it and it counts for the next time it is due: today if it runs today, otherwise its next day. A small note under it says which day, for example done for Mon 12 Oct.
When does an early tick reset?
The morning after the day it was for. It stays ticked through that day, shows as done on that day's Success Day, and the next morning the box is empty again for the following time. There is no clock to manage.
What does Skip do to a ritual?
Skip means not needed this time. The ritual comes off that day's Success Day without being marked late, and it will not count as missed. The tick box greys out while it is skipped, and a bring back link undoes it.
What happens to a monthly ritual I tick early?
Tick the 25th on the 22nd and the next one moves to a month after the 25th, exactly as if you had ticked it on the day. Untick it and the date moves back. Skipping does the same.

Rituals used to be tickable only on the day, on your Success Day. If you did Monday's thing on Saturday, you had to remember to tick it on Monday or it showed as late. Now the Rituals page has a tick box on every ritual, and a tick there counts for the next time it is due.

Ticking one off early

  1. 1Open Rituals from the menu.
  2. 2Find the ritual and tick the box on its card. Under it, a note says which day the tick is for, such as done for Mon 12 Oct. For something that runs today, there is no note; it is just done.
  3. 3On that day, your Success Day shows it already ticked, and Thinker leaves it out when it builds your day. No time is budgeted for it and it is named as already done.

The morning after that day, the box is empty again for the following time. Nothing resets on a timer; the tick belongs to the day it was for, so it falls off by itself when the day has passed.

Skipping one

Sometimes a ritual is simply not needed this time: the client you invoice monthly is away, the Monday numbers review falls on a bank holiday. Press Skip on the card. It is the same Skip you have on the Success Day, and it works the same way.

  • The ritual comes off that day's Success Day and is never marked late.
  • The card stays on the Rituals page with a note, skipped, not needed, and the day.
  • The tick box greys out while it is skipped. Press bring back if you change your mind and it is back to normal.
  • The morning after that day, the skip clears itself.

Monthly, quarterly and yearly

For the longer rhythms, ticking or skipping early moves the next date on by one cycle, exactly as ticking on the day does. Tick the 25th on the 22nd and the next one is a month after the 25th. Untick, or bring a skipped one back, and the date moves back.

Late ones are unchanged

A ritual you missed still floats to the top of your Success Day with a was due flag, and you tick or skip it there. The Rituals page tick box is about the next time, not the last one.
